Swoon part 1
This morning has been all about the Swoon. My background fabric arrived about 3 weeks ago but as I was happily tripping at the time it has been sat patiently waiting for me. But this morning I started slicing. All the background fabric is done and I've picked out my solids for my first 3 blocks. This is an ongoing project. Something for me to dip into each month when my solids arrive from Justine. I intended on starting this in January but I'm already a little behind.

Interruptions
This week it has been half term. I look forward to a week off school and spending quality time with my children. Which is why I'm in here on the computer and they are in there watching the TV.
I've tried to get some sewing bits done today, just a little but I have been completely interrupted many, many times. We've coloured pictures, we've baked and decorated cakes, I've had to watch many different dances and shows, we've been to buy a new school bag for the eldest and all I wanted was to get my scrappy trips basted!
It has taken all afternoon for me to get this done! Hopefully I will get to start quilting it later once 'his nibs' comes back from work. Half term was meant to be about quilting this and my other WIP so I could move on to starting my Swoon quilt. Aaaaarrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!
And relax........
In other news, last week I was lucky enough to win a £25 voucher for the Village Haberdashery courtesy of Charlotte who was celebrating a blog birthday and had a little giveaway. I spent hours trying to decide what to spend my winnings on. Honestly, hours. Eventually I popped a rainbow set of pearl bracelet fat eighths into my basket because I couldn't resist them. Quickly followed by some Ruby Star Rising clocks in orange and some Kona in ivy to go with it plus a reel of matching thread and some magnetic closey type things.
These are destined to become a little bag for me for the spring/summer when it eventually starts to show itself. I have a really simple tutorial to refer to as this is me venturing into the unknown, having never made a bag before. Something quick and easy to do, hopefully inbetween interruptions!

Little apples......a little late!
Here's one I made earlier. October last year to be precise and I forgot to show and tell then so here it is. Better late than never I suppose!
Simply quilted to match the diamond effect on the front....nothing to do with me wanting it finished or anything. Originally cut and pieced over Easter but this had sat around waiting to be quilted for ages though I don't know why.
Made from one layer cake using a free pattern from Moda. Really simple but nice. The backing was some solids that I had hanging around and half a yard of the clothes print and bound in the tiny apples print.
It measures approx 51 x 60 inches. Eldest daughter likes it but the cat loves it!

Swapping and shopping
I've taken part in a couple of swaps recently and have been eagerly awaiting my parcels.
The first to arrive was the Low Volume swap hosted by Laura Jane. My choice was the square in the middle! I love how everyone has their own interpretation of low volume and I can't wait to make something from the charms.
The next parcel to arrive was the Simply Solids swap (nothing to do with Justine but I did buy mine from there!) Celine was in charge of this one. I sent 2 yards of yellow fabrics and got this rainbow bundle back. I don't tend to buy lots of solids so this was a good swap for me as I now have a few more FQs to lay my hands on to mix in with my many prints.
Then I did a bit of shopping for some Bella. I have a few Echo prints stashed away and I know Bella has been around for a while but I wanted some and Kate had some on sale so I couldn't resist. Following that little spree I then headed over to Courtney's and got a few of the other prints to add to my collection.

I also did a spot more shopping but more on that later in the week once it arrives!

Trips progress
I now have 19 blocks made and another 6 cut and ready to be completed. I was thinking of making my scrappy trips 60 inches square with a 5x5 layout of blocks but I'm not sure. Maybe I should just carry on making blocks so I have enough for the full 72x72 quilt.....decisions, decisions.
